Regulations and Licensing Application Information
Why you need an FCC license
Motorola Talkabout® Distance, Distance DPS, Spirit® Professional,
Talkabout® T6400 and XTN two-way radios operate on radio frequencies
that are regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
In order to transmit on these frequencies, you are required to have
a license issued by the FCC. (Note that you do NOT need an FCC license
for the Talkabout® T289, 280 SLK, fr50 and fr60 two-way radios.)
How to apply for an FCC license
Talkabout® Distance and T6400 two-way radios operate on General
Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) frequencies. To apply for a GMRS license,
you will need FCC Forms 605 and 159. Form 605 can be filed electronically
at: http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls/applications/
Spirit® Professional and XTN two-way radios operate on Private
Land Mobile frequencies. Application is made on FCC Form 601 schedules
D, H and Form 159.
